Philadelphia’s assistant district attorney and Meek’s lawyers had been calling for the Wins& Losses rapper’s handout from confinement due to “questions about the credibility” of the arresting policeman in his case.

There has been broad support and called to speak to free Meek, who in November was sentenced to two to four years in prison for transgressing probation, from people who say his prison sentence was “unjust” and yet another example of double standards criminal justice systems imposed upon Black men.

I’d like to thank God, my family, my friends, my lawyers, my squad at Roc Nation including Jay Z, Desiree Perez, my good friend Michael Rubin, my fans, The Pennsylvania Supreme Court and all my public advocates for their charity, support and encouragement during this difficult time. While the past five months have been a ordeal, the petitions, sees, bawls, characters and mobilizes have helped me stand positive. To the Philadelphia District Attorney’s office, I’m grateful for your commitment to justice- not only for my lawsuit, but for others that have been wrongfully prison due to police misconduct. Although I’m ordained to have the resources to fight this unjust situation, I understand that numerous people of color across the country don’t have that luxury and I plan to use my scaffold to glitter a light on those issues. In the meantime, I plan to work closely with my law team to invalidate this unwarranted conviction and look forward to reuniting with my family and resuming my music profession .~ ATAGEND
